Saint Elian Church
Description
It may be one of the biggest churches in Lebanon. Saint Elian was Christian from Homs. His pagan parents tried to persuade him to abandon Christianity, but he refused. He was put in jail, beaten and threatened but he kept his strong faith and helped others. He was murdered keeping his Christianity in the 4th century. The altar of the church was designed similarly to an altar in Rome. It is the only one in Lebanon containing engraves referring to God’s presence.
